They are all directly connected. It's basically a saga about Gerard and Ciri. It's mostly focused on Gerard in the books, but there are times when you switch to Ciri's point of view.A lot of people dislike those episodes, but I liked them as much.

I really have only had this experience with switching between them in Witcher 3 so far. It's not that bad. She doesn't have the Witcher abilities, but she zips around and kind of teleports plus she's rather quick. I really only have a preference since I much rather admire a male than a female. *shrugs*

Well, I haven't played Witcher 3 so I don't really know how it looks in the game and why is she able to teleport, but I assume it's because she finally learned how to use magic. But that's spoilers.

That's a rather odd reason, but okay.I prefer Gerard because he is a charismatic speaker and has great dialogues in books and in games. Can't say the same thing about Ciri though.

There are other reasons I prefer Gerard. That last post made me sound rather shallow.. hmm. That was not what I meant. Gerard seems to have a certain personality I've grown used to by playing the last two games. How he interacts with the few friends he has etc. Is he portrayed as a sex maniac in the books? The fact that the options are there for so many fuckable females boggles my mind. Ciri doesn't really have much of a dialogue. Her personality for me hasnt had a chance to grow yet. I guess I need more time using her or reading about her.

I prefer Gerard myself, but yeah, definitely not because he is male.He is very charismatic and he means business, he is that wise old martial artist archetype, but he is not actually old and is down to earth most of the time, but also has very interesting ideas and is just a complex character all around - it's hard to not like the guy.
Actually one thing that I really dislike about him is just like you said - he is a sex maniac.A man whore. And yes, he is even worse in the books at times. It's insane how sex obsessed he is.He is also pretty cool with cheating on his , for the lack of a better word, girlfriends.
Ciri...I can't comment on how she is in the game, but she has a lot of stuff going on for her in the books.I found her to be very interesting and realistic (all things considered) + there is major character development while Gerard never really changes all that much. There is plenty of backstory for Ciri that hopefully wasn't spoiled to you by the game.

Well, Ciri was on the run for a lot of the game. I didn't really understand much about her backstory which makes me want to simply replay Witcher 3 as soon as I finish the books. It will fill in so many holes I have. In part of the game, I recall you could choose whether to kiss some random stranger with Ciri. I have no idea if things would have lead to something else. I remember being so confused about some of the things being said. Why is this elf saving her? So many questions.

The fact that Gerard never really changed doesnt bother me much. However, I think he does grow and develop and little bit in the story. Ciri definitely does more though and it makes perfect sense. Hmm. The things you say are usually about the book, where as what I'm saying is about the game. Very curious about the book's story line compared to the game now.

Well, like I said, I haven't played the game, so I can't really say anything about Witcher 3.
Yeah, it will be a great experience - to know who all those people are and why you should be excited about hearing their names.I know I was.

It doesn't bother me, but his act was getting stale after awhile. He was always the same guy in books. In games he definitely changes, but only if you make him, since you are in control + amnesia.
The book's story line is basically a prequel, but there are some tiny contradictions and continuity errors.Very tiny ones.Namely Professor from the first game if you remember him.Everything else is kinda not that important.

Amnesia is actually a good move on the developer's end because it also allows Gerard to be out of character in games. You can really make him do some weird shit he'd never do in the books. You can really break his moral code into pieces in games.

That's the great thing about a game rather than a book at times. The game usually gives you the chance to ever so slightly try to change the character. I try to change Man Whore Gerard into a Saint in game, but the book is another thing altogether. I do love books as well as games, but I like the customizing you can do with a good game. Even better when a good game is made from a great book!

I was just happy to explore this world and to fight all those monsters from books while utilizing Witcher's signs, potions, and swords. That is a great adaptation of book material.Incredibly faithful.
You meant to say 'great game from a great book' no doubt.
