@Not Shiiiro Damn bruh you spoiled the hot spring event to brassy

Now Brassy has nothing to look forward to, you feel good about yourself Shiiiro?

Seriously no one should complain about this, it is one of those known things that were gonna happen

"It's not your run of the mill teen fiction."

How'd they get the quote wrong, it's

"Whoa whoa it's not just some run of the mill young adult fiction"

Not Shiiiro

If you hear closely, despite the amount of unnecessary garbled noise, you can hear a version of PV02's OST with lyrics.

Anybody ask anything useful?

Dunno, I'm waiting for them to post their article, cause their tweets make it just seem about the question and some complaining about casuals.

@OGSpider

lol

I was wondering if anyone was going to ask them if they have ever met the staff of Atlus USA?

Tae

Or, if Hardin was there with them, ask, "Was it a good marketing decision to release your western ver. during a time that has multiple big budget console releases, including a game coming out on the same exact day? Knowing that the western market has more consoles, would it make more sense to release in a time where there are only one or two big games releasing, or where there are many console games releasing in a three-month span?"

Or, "Is the NA release date a marketing gimmick?"

1. That 1st question is filled with anime exposition

2. the 2nd one would be avoided, I gurantee it

Considering 2-14-17 is also the release date of For Honor, Persona 5 screwed up.

Clicheanimesensei

Considering 2-14-17 is also the release date of For Honor, Persona 5 screwed up.

For Honor is Multiplatform, Persona 5 is exclusive it isn't too bad, but yeah  it'll suck for those who already were not going to get P5

Tae

With how long it is, yes they would

Oh shush… how about, "Do you think it's a good idea to release the NA ver. when many other console games will also be released around the same time?"

Clicheanimesensei

That could work, but then again, remember they're releasing against Final Fantasy XV in Japan. I don't think they're scared

Tae

They're scared of fighting US FFXV, not the console-less Japan.

Tae

I just want to curl and snuggle up next to someone and steal their heart. Is that so bad that I have to wait until February?

Sorry @Not Shiiiro @Gin

Siliconera has learned today that Persona 5 won’t include both English and Japanese voiceover options, but Atlus will instead stick to English in-game text and voices for their localization.

According to Atlus, a stable of talented voice actors have provided the English voiceovers while Atlus’s own localization team offers an English script that “provides a faithful and engaging play experience.”

1. The day to night cycle is similar to that from Persona 4. Every day you'll get the date and time marked for you in the corner of the screen. During the day, you'll have to go to school and work at part time jobs. On off-days, you'll be free to explore the city of Shibuya. At night, you can either study, train, or enter the otherworld with your friends to fix corrupted people's hearts.

2. Morgana follows you everywhere. When you're not in the world of shadows, Morgana appears as a normal black cat with glowing blue eyes. She's with you wherever you go, her head poking out of your bag as you run between classes or around Shibuya. At school, she'll sleep in your desk or calmly wait for class to be over. If you decide to see a movie, she'll sit in her bag in the theater and watch with you. Sometimes she'll pop out to talk to you, and at home she'll curl up beside you while you study or train. Morgana is your constant companion.

3. Like in Persona 4, in class your teacher will ask you questions or make you solve math problems.Correctly solving these questions will boosts some of your protagonist's stats.

4. There is a school shop like in Persona 3. Here you can buy any regular items you may need.

5. When you're not face to face, you'll communicate with your friends via text message. And yes, you have a never-ending group chat.

6. It is possible to screw up and fail missions. For example, one mission involves your teacher wanting to expel you, and you are given 10 days to stop it from happening. In those 10 days, you'll need to go into your teacher's Palace–the dark place in people's hearts where the game's dungeons are located–and solve her problem. All Palaces will have unique problems to solve in regards to their owner, similar to Persona 4. If you don't complete the missions in 10 in-game days, it's game over.

7. While running by NPCs, sometimes a red icon with the letters "SMS" will pop up over their heads. This means you can text and converse with this character.

8. The world map is the same as previous games: a selection of locations you can choose to travel to. Each area is inspired by real-world locations in the real Shibuya, with some fictional tweaks. But the overall look and feel of Persona 5's city is nearly identical to that of its real-world counterpart.

9. When you select a location to travel to, the loading screen is the silhouettes of passengers on the subway. It looks amazing.

10. There is a medical clinic with a mysterious, pretty attendant where you can buy healing and support items.

11. In addition to answering questions in class, there are a number of other places where you can raise your stats, including: batting cages, a burger joint (where you can complete an ultimate challenge to eat a giant burger for some really great boosts), a movie theater, and a bathhouse.

12. On your off days, you'll run around in casual clothes. These will be changeable.

13. There is also a weapons shop. Here you can buy airsoft weapons.

14. When you're not at school or stealing hearts, you can choose to have a part time job. Job options include being an attendant at a flower shop, which can raise your kindness stat, or a convenience store, among others.

15. You get to Palaces through a phone app. Each Palace is as unique as the individual to whom it belongs and represents how the individual sees himself.

16. In dungeons, you can jump to higher areas like on top of shelves to find alternate routes around enemies, as there are more objects in the environment to interact with. Random enemy encounters in Persona 5 will be a bit more difficult than in previous Persona games. If you can sneak up on an enemy and attack first, you can get the upper hand in the ensuing fight.

17. You have an ability called Third Eye that will uncover clues to solving some dungeons' environmental puzzles. The ability can also help you find secret items.

18. In combat, you have the option to talk to enemies and claim their power as your own. The Hold Up feature will give the protagonist and his team the option to speak with random encounter enemies and attempt to convince them to join forces. This feature is very similar to the demon-acquiring options in the Shin Megami Tensei series.

19. In dungeons, you can stealth between objects. Moving between objects for cover will let you get the jump on an enemy or avoid them entirely.

20. Combat is still turn-based and moves very quickly. Items and attacks are mapped to the d-pad and face buttons, making executing an attack or choice quicker and easier.

21. You can also give your friends addition turns in combat. The Baton Touch feature lets the protagonist pass his turn to another teammate–he does this, of course, through a high-five. For example, during his turn you can have him give it to Anne, who will then attack with a brief stat boost and deal greater damage. This adds a layer of strategy to battles.

22. At the end of the day, the protagonist will return to his home, a small, mostly barren hideaway above a bar. Here he can study or exercise by doing pull-ups from the rafters in order to boost stats.

Persona 5's world feels alive. There is a ton of detail in every corner, from the dents in school lockers to the pencils tucked in the corner of desks, to NPCs chatting on the street and intricate pictures of food on restaurant menus.

Atlus hosted a Persona 5 Japanese E3 2016 live stream this morning, where it revealed several pieces of new information about the game.

First, Atlus revealed the game’s ninth party member to be a boy named Goro Akechi, voiced by Soichiro Hoshi. He is a high school student and detective. Further details about the character were not shared.

Next, Atlus released a series of “cooperation character” trailers, introducing Tae Takemi, Munehisa Iwai, and Sojiro Sakura. These cooperation characters are just some of the various people that the protagonist and friends will meet, whether in school or in the city, who possess special abilities and skills. Their interests will align with yours, and by building up a relationship of mutual trust, you can establish a cooperative “Co-Op” relationship with them. By deepening your bonds with cooperation characters, you can use their abilities to go about your life as a Phantom Thief more advantageously.

Atlus also announced it will hold a Persona 5 Premium Event at the Tokyo National Museum on July 19. During this event, those granted entry will be able to play the full version of Persona 5. You can sign up for a chance to attend here. The event will also be live streamed on Niconico.

Finally, Atlus has opened the “School Life” and “Phantom Life” pages on the Persona 5 official website.

Persona 5 is due out for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on September 15 in Japan and on February 14 in the Americas.

■ Introduction

Phantom Thieves who steal the rotten hearts of bad guys!?

A group of Phantom Thieves shrouded in mystery make noise in the big city!

Now, the group that calls themselves the “Phantom Thieves of Hearts” are causing a commotion in the big city of Tokyo. These Phantom Thieves “steal” the distorted desires harbored within the “hearts” of evil adults.

The notices from the Phantom Thieves sent to these adults seem to ask that they “completely confess their sins and reform.”

Teachers who abuse students with reckless language, fraudulent loan sharks, artists that plagiarize… these are the kinds of rotten adults targeted by the Phantom Thieves.

How will the Phantom Thieves reform these evil adults? An entertaining and thrilling story of world reformation begins.

■ Story

“When I protected the woman from the man harassing her, he got hurt and pressed charges against me.”

Whether it was for a small sense of justice, or possibly a different reason, the truth was distorted at the self-protection and convenience of rotten adults, and it is stated that the protagonist has a “personal history” for these types of vigilant actions. One day, while serving out his probation sentence in a worn-out café in Tokyo, he has a strange and vivid dream.

Dressed in a prison uniform, he awakens to find himself apprehended in a location that seems to be reminiscent of a prison with a blue hue. On the other side of the prison bars are twin guards, and enshrined in the back, an old man with a strange face, always hanging his head in thought. When the protagonist went to sleep, he called—or invited—him to the mysterious blue prison known as the “Velvet Room.” It is a place that lies between dream and reality, and spirit and substance. It is a room that only someone bound by some sort of contract may enter.

Although the Velvet Room accommodates the hero in the form of a prison, the old man says, “the state of this room is the state of the mind of the contractor himself,” and that the young man is a “prisoner of fate.”

Ruin awaits this one in the near future. And nothing can be done but “rehabilitate” against it. “The path to freedom that comes from rehabilitation”… that is the only way to avoid ruin.

The old man, Igor, asks the protagonist, “Are you prepared for this challenge? The challenge of taking on a distorted world?”

—The twin guards of the Velvet Room. They claim they exist to “help the captive protagonist reach his goal of rehabilitation.”

—Igor, an old man who imposes the path of “rehabilitation” on the protagonist.

—From time to time in the story, you’ll be visiting the Velvet Room. You can also interact with its mysterious inhabitants.

■ The Start of the Phantom Thieves

The “rehabilitation to freedom” imposed by Igor on the protagonist was to become an excellent thief. And from there begins the world reforming Phantom Thieves who steal the hearts of evil adults.

—The objective: to steal the distorted desires of adults and reform each target.

—Before long the crimes of the Phantom Thieves are noticed by the police and governments around the world, developing into a major incident.

—It is said that people are going mad. Could this be related to what the Phantom Thieves are after!?

■ The Palace

The protagonist and friends use a mysterious smartphone application given to them by Igor called “Isekai Navi” (Other World Navi), and infiltrate the other world of the heart, known as “Palace,” and reform evil adults.

The other world of the heart, “Palace,” is another reality seen in evil persons with warped hearts. Within the various extreme interiors of this other world, including old castles, art museums, and pyramids, the protagonist and friends aim at its hidden desires known as “treasures.”

—The Phantom Thieves’ objective is to steal the distorted desires that take form as “treasures” in the depths of each Palace. Various obstacles will stand in their way.

—In the art museum-style Palace, there will be many paths, some which may lead to dead ends. You’ll have to navigate through the paintings to solve the puzzle and make your way through.

—See through suspicious areas with the eyes of a truth-distinguishing Phantom Thief and deceive the eyes of the enemy in disguise. From pathways and more, many gimmicks await in the dungeons.

—Through stealth actions, you can hide and initiate surprise attacks, as well as sneak your way through. In the “Bank” themed Palace, you’ll have the opportunity to try to sneak your way in without getting caught or enter the bank the hard way. This is just one of many dungeon gimmicks in Persona 5.

■ Student by Day, Thief by Night

Before the protagonist and friends are Phantom Thieves, they’re high school students who attend class and after-school activities, use free time for dates and part-time jobs, study, and play games. Players can fully enjoy a year as a high school student, including events for each season like swimming, culture festivals, and social studies field trips.

—The protagonist’s room is in the attic of a cafe at which he lodges. He can also invite friends over and perform other activities, such as playing games.

—Similar to previous Persona games, taking class seriously will increase your knowledge. Something good might also come out of scoring well on tests.

—Throughout the game’s story, there will be tons of things to do, from an overseas field trip, culture festivals and more!

—Players can freely decide what to do after school. From hanging with the girls in Shibuya, watching a movie in Akihabara and more, the world is your oyster!

—Something similar to the favorability system we’ve seen before in Persona 3 and Persona 4 is alive and well in Persona 5. You can also become lovers.

—There are multiple opportunities in terms of self-improvement, including various types of part-time jobs. You can even provide help with a school election speech.

■ Omnibus Format Episodes

The episodes of Persona 5 play out in an omnibus format. Each story is independent, and before long every incident will connect and tie together to the truth. What kind of ending awaits this story depends on the player. Something big lurks behind the shadows, and it’s up to the cast to find out.

Caroline and Justine (voiced by Aki Toyosaki)

Twin prison guards that accompany Igor. They both look the same, and each wears a solemn eye patch on one eye. These two call themselves the guards of the Velvet Room, and generally receive the imprisoned protagonist with a sharp attitude and tone. Also, the twins vary greatly in punctuality and sometimes argue over treatment of the protagonist.

The English version of Persona 5 is only planned to ship with English voice-overs. This much was confirmed last week. But Atlus is “looking into” the potential of releasing the Japanese audio as downloadable content.

On Twitter today, Atlus U.S.A. public relations manager John Hardin said: “So, once again: All we are confirming at P5 launch is English dub. I’m looking into the possibility of JPN vo as DLC, but no news there.”

Hardin added that, “regarding expectations, know that is a massively steep, uphill request.”

Why he doesn't have a key?

The English version of Persona 5 is only planned to ship with English voice-overs. This much was confirmed last week. But Atlus is “looking into” the potential of releasing the Japanese audio as downloadable content.

On Twitter today, Atlus U.S.A. public relations manager John Hardin said: “So, once again: All we are confirming at P5 launch is English dub. I’m looking into the possibility of JPN vo as DLC, but no news there.”

Hardin added that, “regarding expectations, know that is a massively steep, uphill request.”

Won't get my hopes up.
